The Time of Darkness
West Coast of Northern Norway, 68°N

In Northern Norway, at 68°N, the sun is under the horizon between the 2th of December and the 10th of January. The darkest day - or Winter Solstice - occurs on December 22. During this time we have about 2 h of dusk around noon. When the weather is overcast it stays almost dark throughout the day. But in clear conditions the sun lights up the horizon; reassuring us us that the days will soon be filled with light again.
